About the award
This is a developmental residency, it aims to support an artist who is interested in developing and/ or consolidating their collaborative/ socially engaged arts practice. We welcome applications from artists working across all artforms. It is primarily a research and learning opportunity that allows the selected artist the time and resources to focus on a particular area of their collaborative/ socially engaged arts practice. It is important to note that it is not a production centered residency for projects but it will offer the opportunity for the artist to platform/ share their learnings from the residency.
The award sets out to support the selected artist to network and engage with the wider field of socially engaged arts and includes additional curatorial advice and studio space based in Galway Arts Centre, a multidisciplinary arts centre, gallery and theatre in Galway City centre. The award will offer the opportunity for the selected artist to engage in various elements of the Creative Places Tuam programme. The award allows for the artist to connect with other practitioners and communities in Galway City, Tuam and its hinterlands to foster dialogue and experimentation.
