We were delighted to be part of Create’s Annual Networking Day, held on the 9th and 10th December. We invited linguist and researcher Francesca La Morgia to moderate a panel entitled New Geographies, with artists Caroline Bergvall, Oein De Bhardúin (Thinking on Tuam Resident Artist) and Ceara Conway. The panel explored how voice, sound and language support trans-local practices, and help delineate new social and cultural geographies of place and exchange.
Close to 200 artists, community workers, academics, arts workers, etc attended Networking Day. It was a really rich couple of days of sharing practice and exchanging in the context of the unique challenges this year has presented for individual practitioners, collectives and for the arts sector more generally.
On the 9th December, all attendees worked together on a collective resource pack; the Collaborative Arts Resource Pack. This pack, filled with suggestions of books, podcasts, films, talks and more, was organised and co-produced by Create and Heart of Glass. This is intended to be a trustworthy “go-to” when feeling in need of stimulation/ support/ comfort etc; talks, books, projects, conferences, that have inspired you and your peers and kept you going during a year like no other.
Create’s Networking Day was delivered in partnership with Heart of Glass, Creative Places Tuam and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre.
