We are delighted to announce that Helena McElmeel Architects, Creative Places Tuam and Niall O’Cleirigh have been nominated for a Multi-Discipline Collaboration Achievement award at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2025. This is for the IAF Reimagine Tuam Hometown Architect project, in collaboration with Joanna McGlynn and the community of Tuam.
The Hometown Architect project is part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Reimagine programme, which aims to connect communities with architects to co-design and improve their local built environment. The Reimagine programme believes that local insight and tacit knowledge from all stakeholders are integral to developing solutions for our urban spaces, fostering a sense of agency, ownership, and pride among participants.
This funding provided a one-stop shop for bringing the community of Tuam together to address the issue of vacancy within the town, resulting in multiple public events and workshops.
