Legacy Building in Tuam and its hinterlands
Creative Places Tuam is committed to building the capacity of Tuam’s cultural practitioners and community groups. Legacy is just as important as what we help to create whilst we are here.
We are connected with the people of Tuam, to offer training, professional and funding opportunities to ensure the continuation of the work instigated and supported by Creative Places, recognising that the legacy of this work will rest in the development of our partners and participants.
We offer support and training to artists and communities, to confidently apply for national funding, for example from the Arts Council, Creative Ireland, and more. Part of this process involves connecting Tuam with the national resource agencies such as Arts and Disability Ireland, Age and Opportunity, Centre for Creative Practices, and other sectoral organisations.
Themes that might emerge as training:
- How to plan and cost arts activities, projects and workshops within a community context
- How to negotiate issues that might arise in a community based arts project, such as questions of ownership, process and product
- Planning, event management and environmental concerns for arts activities
- Social benefits and risks of collaborative community-based arts activities Negotiating high risk practice
- How to monitor, evaluate and document your practice
- How to share your community based project through video and on social media
- Project management – fundraising, budgeting, funding bids, administration, event production for exhibitions, carnivals, festivals
