The Irish Architecture Foundation recently announced the five towns across Ireland chosen to take part in their Reimagine Hometown Architect initiative. Tuam’s project, the Tuam One Stop Shop, is made up of a collaborative team of architects, designers, artists, local community groups and residents that will support the development of a project looking at dereliction and vacancy in Tuam town. The team’s ambition is to bring the community of Tuam together to address the issue of vacancy within the town. By working in dynamic and creative ways together, they will lay the foundations to long term and meaningful actions that will benefit the Town of Tuam.

On April 1st at 2pm in Tuam Town Hall, the Hometown Architect Team warmly invite residents, business owners and building owners to come together to the launch of our year long engagement with Tuam Town to tackle building vacancy and dereliction, finding creative ways to reimagine the town centre reinvoking its vibrancy to create a positive future. We will discuss how we can help you transform vacant and derelict buildings in Tuam Town.  Niall O’Cleirigh & Helena McElmeel in partnership with Creative Places Tuam will host, throughout 2023, a series of engagement workshops and events collectively with the public and one on one with business & building owners.
