Shining a Light on the Artists and Creatives of Tuam
Creative Places Tuam is delighted to open Tuam Artist Spotlight, a rolling programme celebrating the artists, makers, musicians, performers, writers, filmmakers, creatives and cultural contributors living and working in Tuam and its surrounding areas.
Tuam has an incredible wealth of creative talent. From painters to poets, musicians to theatre makers, textile artists to filmmakers, photographers to community creatives, artists play a vital role in shaping the identity and cultural life of our town. The Tuam Artist Spotlight aims to shine a light on that creativity.
Selected artists will be featured through:
- A two-week public display in Connaughtons windows on Shop Street, Tuam
- An online Artist Spotlight profile shared across Creative Places Tuam’s website and social media channels
- A fun and informal artist interview featuring a modern take on the famous Proust Questionnaire
Join the Artist Roster
We are currently inviting Expressions of Interest from artists and creatives who would like to be included in the Tuam Artist Spotlight, Artist Roster.
The roster will help Creative Places Tuam identify artists for future Spotlight features, window displays, artist profiles, events, workshops and other opportunities as they arise.
Joining the roster does not guarantee selection for a particular opportunity, but it ensures that we can learn about your practice and keep you informed about future Creative Places Tuam activities and opportunities.
What Does the Spotlight Include?
Window Display: Selected artists will have the opportunity towards a small, curated display or exhibition within Connaughtons selected windows on Shop Street.
We recognise that not every creative practice naturally fits within a traditional exhibition format.
For example:
- Musicians may wish to display instruments, lyrics, photographs or QR codes linking to recordings.
- Writers may present extracts, notebooks, publications or visual interpretations of their work.
- Theatre makers may exhibit posters, props, costumes or production materials.
- Filmmakers may include stills, storyboards or QR links to screenings.
- Community artists may showcase documentation, photographs or collaborative work.
If you can imagine it, we will do our best to help make it happen.
Artist Profile
Alongside the window display, artists will be featured through an online profile exploring:
- Their creative practice
- Their connection to Tuam
- Current projects and ambitions
- A series of fun, thoughtful and unexpected questions designed to help the public get to know the person behind the work

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for artists and creatives who are passionate about their practice and interested in sharing their work with the wider community.
We are particularly interested in showcasing the diversity of creative activity taking place across Tuam and its surrounding areas.
No previous exhibition experience is required.

- A short Artist Statement & biography (max 250 words)
- A brief description of your creative practice and why you would like to take part in the Tuam Artist Spotlight (max 250 words)
- Up to 5 examples of your work (images, links, recordings, videos or written samples)

Artists will be selected on a rolling basis throughout the programme.
