Reimagine Tuam with Helena McElmeel Architects, Creative Places Tuam and Niall O’Cleirigh (IAF Reimagine Tuam Hometown Architect) was shortlisted for a Multi-Discipline Collaboration Achievement Award. Unfortunately we didn’t bring home an award but we were thrilled to be recognised for this work examining vacancy in Tuam. Congratulations to Fuinneamh Workshop (Cork), recipients of the award.
The Hometown Architect project is part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Reimagine programme, which aims to connect communities with architects to co-design and improve their local built environment. The Reimagine programme believes that local insight and tacit knowledge from all stakeholders are integral to developing solutions for our urban spaces, fostering a sense of agency, ownership, and pride among participants. This funding provided a one-stop shop for bringing the community of Tuam together to address the issue of vacancy within the town, resulting in multiple public events and workshops.
